Grow Your Blog in 2015

I was checking out one of my favorite Blogs... CrazyMomQuilts.blogspot.com and clicked on Vals Quilting Studio (not me, different Val)...  I came across a Blog Button that said, "Grow Your Blog In 2015."  I thought... YES!!! Best Day Ever... Jelly Roll Pattern...

So, I have decided to make the quilt the Best Day Ever next with my Jelly Roll...  Moda Bake Shop has great, free pattern's.  I am very excited to start this quilt... simple, easy, and fun!

So Much Going On...

So, I have to admit I am really trying to get myself to really focus on Blogging.  I love reading everyone Else's Blogs and seeing what they are making.   However, I have just been in a funk these past few months.  My beautiful cousin passed away at 51, after battling Breast Cancer for 10 Years.  She was the most beautiful, loved, charismatic & wonderful mother to ever walk the face of the earth.  It was and still is so devastating, especially with the holidays coming up.  My cousin Maggie could Light up a room whenever she walked in...  I am still grieving and it makes it really hard to focus...  That is my Maggs in the Middle, and to the right with the dark hair is my sister and then Maggie's daughter and my cousin Francesca...  The guy in the white shirt is a Waiter who accidentally photo bombed our pic (lol).  What I wouldn't do to go back to that time in our lives.  Now, I am trying to use my grief to help me to be a better, more productive person... And it starts with my quilting and trying to learn to be a phenomenal quilter and sewing enthusiast!

What to do with a Jelly Roll?

Jelly Rolls are a great way to make a fast, fun, and easy strip quilt.  Even beginners can whip out a quilt easily.  Quilting with Jelly Rolls are one of my favorite methods of making a quilt.
I love to buy Jelly Rolls online and at quilt shops, they always look so pretty and the quilting possibility's are endless.


My last Jelly Roll Quilt was called Split Decision.  This quilt was so much fun to make, however, it's not a free pattern (insert sad face here).  Currently, I am also looking through this list to decide which quilt to make with my new Jelly Roll... Lilac Hill by Moda

The Disney Movie Pollyanna....

 I finally bought the Disney Movie, "Pollyanna," on Google Play.. I watched it with my 2 & 4 year old.  I loved every second of it and it brought back so many wonderful memories of these great movies from when I was young.  Even after watching this movie so many times as a kid, it still makes me cry today.  The house and the costumes that they used in the movie were so beautiful.  I was so anxious to see where they filmed the movie.  I found this wonderful website... www.hookedonhouses.net 

 You have to check out this site.  The woman that writes the blog has tons of homes that are featured in movies and tv.  Another one of my favorite shows of all time is, Charmed.  She has a wonderful article on the famous Halliwell Home!  I have to thank her for bringing back so many treasured memories of my childhood with her information and writing.

Split Decision with a Twist...

I finally finished the quilt I was making for my mom for her Birthday!  I am so happy with it, and very proud of myself...

I love making quilts, but I especially love hand sewing the bindings.  I put on my Downton Abbey dvd's and relax after my kids and husband have gone to bed.  One trick that I love to use is hair clips to keep the binding in place while I sew.  It works very well.

I used fabric from Fig Tree Quilts www.figtreequilts.com  JoAnne has a wonderful Blog as well Fig Tree Quilts Blog.  I love quilts that aren't so matchy, matchy but since this was for my mom I knew she would love it to be more on the monochromatic side.

Amazing Chicken Marinade!!

I am a Lemon Lover!!  Lemon Everything!  Majority of the time when I am making chicken I always use lemon in some way shape or form in my marinades.  I started looking for a marinade that didn't involve lemon and I made one... WOW It is awesome... Lets get started:
I used Chicken Breast, cleaned and cut thin.
You can use chicken parts or turkey parts also.. What ever you like better!

1 6oz Can of Tomato Paste
1/4 cup of Olive Oil
1 1/2 cups of Chicken Broth
1/4 cup of Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tbs of Montreal Chicken Seasoning (McCormick) Or Applewood Rub (McCormick)
1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Basil or 1 Tbs Dried
1/4 cup Chopped Fresh Parsley and More for Garnish or 1 Tbs Dried
1/2 Tbs Oregano
1/4 Tsp of Cumin
1/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbs Chopped Garlic
1 Onion Chopped (I put my onion in the chopper)

Save a 1/2 cup of Chicken Broth and put aside.
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until combined.
Put Chicken into a re-seal able plastic bag and pour Marinade over the chicken.  Get all the air out of the bag and seal it.  I then put the bag in a glass pan and put it into the refrigerator.  I will marinade my chicken for as long as I possibly can. I would say at least an hour or you can marinate overnight.

In the meantime tell your hubby to light the grill.... I hate lighting the grill, it scares the **** out of me for some reason?  I make the husband do it. 

Take the Chicken out of the Marinade and hand it off to your husband to cook on the grill. Do Not Discard the Marinade.... Here is the good part...

Take the remaining marinade and put it in a pot on the stove.  Add the 1/2 cup of Chicken Broth.  Cook the marinade over med/low heat until it is reduced by half.  Take 1/2 the marinade and use as extra sauce for the chicken.  Take the other half and give it to your hubby to brush over the chicken while it is grilling....

Put it on a plate and Garnish with Fresh Parsley & Basil Leaves..... DELICIOUS!!!!! 
If your using Chicken Breasts this also goes great on a roll!

So, one of my absolutely favorite blogs is Maureen Cracknell Handmade.  Her posts are filled with helpful information about quilting, sewing and crafting, but, most of all she is so down to earth that I love it.  She also makes things so much fun on Fridays!!  Before I became a mom, I used to look forward to Friday Happy Hours.. Now, I look forward to Maureen's giveaways on Fridays!  Every Friday she gives away  some amazing fabric or pattern.

If you haven't done so, check out her blog and this tutorial... I am totally going to try this next time I make a quilt.  It looks so easy!  Currently I am in the process of quilting a beautiful quilt that I am making for my mom for her birthday in August and I am just quilting the stitch in the ditch... but I need more... and I am not willing to go to my friends quilt shop and spend $130.00 on someone else to quilt it using a long arm?  I really want to learn how to use a long arm... What is everyones experience with using a Long Arm Quilting Machine?  How did you learn how to do it?
